A couple of weeks back home

We spent the next week in the marina. It's a wonderful friendly place to be and we meet a very interesting assortment of sailing people.  The weather is glorious and it is generally a very relaxing and happy place to be. It has been school holidays and the marina is bursting with families chartering yachts and lots of excited children about to set off on various boats. It's really good to see.  During the week there are lots of empty pens in the marina and as the boats come in, there is an army of people who come to clean them all. We remained in port to get a few jobs done. The main one was getting a protective piece of stainless steel put on the bow. We had sustained a chip in the gel coat when taking up the anchor in a high wind and choppy sea. This has been waiting to happen for some time and it seemed best to put a plate on rather than just patch up the gelcoat. As the repair was done immediately, we were able to come home a little earlier than expected. We are now back in Newcastle where the weather is cold and wet and a real contrast to Airlie Beach. However John has a meeting to go to in Penang and some work to do here so the blog is on hold for a couple of weeks.
